Update at what is happening at the President Cup. TaylorMade has made a big splash in there golf clubs and the new Penta Tp golf ball.
tminsider 2 6 presidentscup TaylorMade at the Presidents Cup The eighth Presidents Cup is finally upon us following the conclusion of the 2009 PGA Tour schedule. A year filled with drama, major championship surprises and a thrilling FedEx Cup race.

For the first time, the event will be held on U.S. soil, not at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia (the host for the four previous U.S.-based Cups), but will have a West Coast flavor, as Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco plays host to the latest edition of this biennial event October 9-11.

There is no shortage of excitement and influence for TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company this week, either. U.S. Presidents Cup Captain Fred Couples is an Ashworth Tour Staff professional while his counterpart, International Captain Greg Norman, is a TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional. Additionally, seven players – Sean O’Hair, Kenny Perry, Jim Furyk, Retief Goosen, Mike Weir, Y.E. Yang and Tim Clark – will be representing TMaG at the event.

Perhaps the greatest energy surrounds the tournament rookies Yang and O’Hair, whose paths to the 2009 Presidents Cup were different, yet equally impressive. With his win at the Quail Hollow Championship, O’Hair became the only current American player under 30 to hold three PGA Tour titles. And who could forget Yang, taking down the world’s No. 1 player, Tiger Woods, to capture this year’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National and become the first Asian-born player to win a major.

The Veterans Goosen and Weir, meanwhile, are making their fifth appearance in the Presidents Cup, an event in which they’ve thrived. Weir boasts an 11-7-1 record in Presidents Cup matches, while Goosen is 11-7-2.

tminsider 2 6 ball TaylorMade at the Presidents Cup Penta TP is the first five-layer tour ball, with each layer built to optimize performance in five key shot categories that skilled players need – driver, long-irons, middle-irons, short-irons and partial wedges. The five layers of Penta include the core, inner mantle, middle mantle, outer mantle and cover. It’s not a coincidence that we isolated five shot categories, and that Penta has five layers. Each layer plays a critical role in optimizing the performance of each of the five shots.

Already being played on the PGA Tour, watch out for Penta TP again this week at Harding Park, where TMaG Staff Professionals Sean O’Hair and Retief Goosen will both be playing the ball.
