Brand Name Loyalty

Nov 22, 2008 by

While doing some reading today I came across this interesting article that talks about mixing and matching your Golf Clubs . I had to laugh because it is the truth.

Are all of the clubs in your bag from the same manufacturer?

I realized that I have absolutely no brand loyalty whatsoever. My putter, wedges, irons, woods, bag and balls all come from several different manufacturers. I don't even have consistency across my woods: my driver TaylorMade, 3-wood is an off brand and Hybrids are Nike.

I would say that my brand loyalty ends at the sale rack. And yet I see people out on the course with the whole shibang: clubs, putter, bag, balls, apparel all from one manufacturer. My opinion is that what I use best is what I will use on the course. If I can hit a straight drive with a certain driver, it's the one for me. Same goes for the Irons I use. I did have them made for me though. Mixing and matching I'm all for it.

When I first started to pay Golf I did want to just have a certain manufacture in my bag, but that went so far. With all the changes going on in the Golf Equipmentworld I did learn what is best for myself. There is alot to say for people who follow there manufacture they believe in there equipment no matter the cost. We all know that golf is a funny game. I have seen tour players who have sponsors, who also mix and match. I really don't know what to think about that. You are getting paid from that sponsor why are you not just using there equipment. Just my little take on that.

If you want just to have brand loyalty go ahead it your game enjoy. There are so many different club makers out there. Test on the driving range or in a simulator what clubs are best for yourself. If one brand only fits you use it. If you have to mix and match by all means use it also. Just find what is best for your Golf game.
