Understanding a Golf Club

Shafts:  Thanks to a new USGA rules change, you can use clubs with easily interchangeable shafts. Callaway Golf, TaylorMade and Nickent. (Just don't make a change during your round that is a no no). It's the most talked about innovation, introducing a whole new world of custom fitting to the average golfer. Now you can easily experiment with a variety of shafts to fit course design or weather conditions,

Club Face:  Every club face has a trampoline effect it is restricted by the USGA. Club designers are careful to make faces that transfer maximum energy to the ball, without breaking the rules by making them too thin and springy.

Understanding MOI:  Moment of inertia (MIO) is the resistance of a clubhead to twisting, so a head with high MOI stays more stable when it impacts the ball at the heel or toe. That means straighter shots, even on mis-hits

Materials:  High tech clubhead materials, like super strong, ultralight carbon composites also used in the aerospace industry, have revolutionized club design. By combining them with familiar materials like titanium, designers have created all new ways of distributing weight in the clubhead, making big, long shots easier.

Heads:  Alongside the recently popular square shaped heads, golf club makers are experimenting with even more exotic head shapes, like pentagons and hexagons. They all share the same goals. Making it easier to get the ball in the air, and making it easier to hit straight shots.

Club Head weight:  Lighter overall club weight can increase your swing speed, resulting in more power being transferred into the ball and therefore longer distance shots. Too light, though, and your club might feel whippy and uncontrollable. A golf club weight determines alot in a swing.

Forgiveness, feel, workability, straight shots, distance, high tech, playability, launch, MOI, power, are all words associated with a Golf Club. So as to push as far as technically possible. No two golfers have exactly the same bodies or swings, so custom fitting your golf clubs is essential to playing your best. Understanding what a golf club is made up of
