Taylor Made R9
TAYLORMADE R9
Asking Price: $400
Lofts: 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 (also in TP)
The moveable weights and changeable shaft in the standard model allow for for 24 ball-flight settings. Confirming that flexibility is TaylorMade's inverted-cone face geometry (to cover the most red-hot area of the face) and a cast formula that produces walls that are only 0.55 millimeters thick.
What we like about the r9 is It doesn't hit as long as the 460, but insanely accurate. Would you give up your distance for accuracy I think so. This club has more bite than bark. You will have confidence over the ball the minute you look down at it.
They've made an difficult shape look classic and an changeable hosel look good to. It has a strong feel, no vibes in the shaft on mis-hits. The soft triangle shape works. It's not excessively big.
What's Hot: We're not sold on the need for many adjustment, but we're sure enough TaylorMade does it finer than anyone. Addition, the head sounds and feels percise whether or not you touch the wrench.
What's Not: For the equal price, the new R9 SuperTri, arriving out soon, looks to be a longer and smarter product.
