Tips To Improve Your Golf Swing

6 December 2009 One CommentEmail This Post Email This Post

The key to a good golf swing is to use a very relaxed grip and stance. Many people seem to have a habit of tensing up at some point during their swing. This inconsistency causes a break in the desired fluid motion. If you tense up at the beginning of your swing then you will not have a very good chance of placing the ball where you intend it to go. If you tense up at the end of your swing you will likely offset your momentum and loose distance as well. Let's take a look at some tips to help your golf swing.
Try interlocking your fingers when you grip the golf club. The proper method is to connect the pinky finger of your lower hand with the index finger of your upper hand. This creates a virtual one handed approach to how you grip the club and has proven to be quite successful for improving the swing of many golfers.

Good posture is another key element to a good golf swing. Ultimately you should have your rear side sticking outwards while you lean your shoulders forward. Bend your knees slightly and center all of your weight directly over balls of your feet. This may sound difficult, but it is one of the oldest and most widely used stances in the game today. It does take time and a great deal of practice to get used to this rather awkward posture, but it is well worth the effort in terms of improving your game.

Once you start getting used to using proper posture techniques, you will want to begin to focus on keeping your head down during the swing. This piece of advice needs to be carefully understood in order to be effective. Although you do want to concentrate on keeping your head down, you also need to understand that it very important to let your head follow the flow as the club moves around your body. It is perfectly acceptable to let your eyes follow the ball. This is not only more natural than strictly keeping your head down, it will also help to greatly improve your golf swing.
